The Department of Fisheries, Universitas Gadjah Mada, took part in the Syawalan celebration organized by the Faculty of Agriculture on Friday, 11 April 2025. The event was held at the Harjono Danoesastro Auditorium and attended by faculty members, administrative staff, and retired lecturers. This celebration was also part of the 79th Anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture, aiming to strengthen bonds among academic community members following the month of Ramadan.

The Syawalan commenced with a communal prayer to express gratitude and hopes for future blessings. It was followed by the recitation of the Syawalan pledge led by faculty representatives. A symbolic gong in the shape of a fish was struck to mark the official opening of the anniversary celebrations—representing unity and diversity within the faculty. The event concluded with a warm and convivial halal bi halal session and communal meal.

This gathering fostered stronger communal spirit and reinforced values of collegiality and integrity. Syawalan also served as a moment of reflection to further support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). By upholding unity and harmony, the Department of Fisheries is committed to contributing to an inclusive and sustainable academic environment.
