This study program is an advancement of the Fisheries and Marine Science Study Interest, which first admitted students in 2013 under the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Sciences, accredited with an “A” rating by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT). As a newly established program, the Doctoral Program in Fisheries Science and Tropical Marine has fulfilled the minimum accreditation requirements for the establishment of a new study program, as stated in BAN-PT Letter Number: 848/BAN-PT/LL/2024 dated May 17, 2024. Furthermore, its establishment has been formalized through the Rector Decree of Universitas Gadjah Mada Number 534/UN1.P/KPT/HUKOR/2024 dated June 24, 2024, concerning the Opening of the Doctoral Program in Fisheries Science and Tropical Marine at the Faculty of Agriculture, UGM.
Graduates of the Doctoral Program in Fisheries Science and Tropical Marine are expected to meet the demand for highly qualified and innovative experts who are proficient in aquaculture science and technology, fisheries biotechnology development, fishery and marine resource management, fishery product post-harvest technology, as well as fishery product business and marketing, both locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally.
